Our History

Every bin, every grain, and every harvest is part of our story.

It all started with a welder in Everit Moons hand. He had a deep love for welding. While he occasionally brought in someone for more specialized work, most of the welding on-site was his own. Many of our signature red steel bins, as well as several of the overheads, were built thanks to his creativity and resourcefulness.

The first scale was installed around 1970. At that time, grain was hauled using a single Mac truck. That was the setup until the 1980s when third-party trucks became more common.

Founded by Johannes & Adriana Moons, Everit Moons, Dick, John, and Charlie. In 1986, at the age of 45, Everit took over the business on his own. When he retired in 2023, aged 81, he looked back not on a job, but on a lifetime of doing something he truly loved.

What began as a single feed silo around 1976 gradually grew into something much bigger. A GSI in-bin dryer was added in the late 1980s, expanding the original setup. Over the years, every addition was built with care and hard work, often by hand. It was always a family effort. Everyone pitched in when it was time to build.

The first 2,000 bushels hopper bin went up sometime in the 1970s. By the decade's end, a larger 6,000-bushel hopper had replaced a bin behind the old-scale house.

In 1987, after a devastating fire at Forest Grain & Feed, two 11,000-bushel bins were relocated here. That fire marked a turning point and helped shape our elevator into what it is today.

Now, with over 30 bins and a fast, efficient unloading process for corn, soybeans, and red and white wheat, Stewardson Donview Grains has grown into a trusted, professional solution for grain storage, handling, and marketing, supporting local farmers all year round.

Since taking over in January 2024, Dylan and Dan have continued building on this family-run business's solid foundation. As farmers themselves, they understand the needs of the people they serve. They continue to expand and improve our services with a simple goal: helping other farmers thrive.
